Constantine Bay

Constantine Bay is a spacious, sandy beach near Padstow, loved for its natural beauty, surf and relaxed north coast feel. Backed by dunes and framed by rocky headlands, it feels wilder and less built-up than some of Cornwall’s busier resort beaches.

The beach is ideal for long walks, surfing, bodyboarding, rock-pooling and family beach days at low tide, when the sand opens out beautifully. The sea can be powerful, with strong currents and Atlantic swell, so it is important to swim or surf with care and follow lifeguard guidance when cover is in place.

Food and drink options are best found in the surrounding villages rather than directly on the sand. The Pig at Harlyn is a standout choice nearby, offering relaxed but polished dining with a strong focus on local produce and a beautiful countryside setting. Rafferty’s at Harlyn is another good option for casual food and drinks after a beach day, while St Merryn has a handful of pubs and cafés for easy lunches, dinners and takeaway options.

For walking, Constantine Bay is excellent. Follow the coast path north towards Treyarnon and Porthcothan, or south towards Booby’s Bay, Trevose Head and Mother Ivey’s Bay for big sea views, rock formations and lighthouse scenery.

Constantine Bay is best enjoyed as a classic, open-air beach day: surf, walk the sand, explore the rocks, picnic in the dunes and stay for sunset over the Atlantic.
