Coverack

Coverack is a peaceful fishing village on the eastern side of the Lizard Peninsula, known for its sheltered bay, pretty harbour and slower pace of life. It feels quieter and more tucked away than many of Cornwall’s busier seaside spots, making it ideal for visitors who want scenery, sea air and a traditional coastal atmosphere.

The beach is a mix of sand, shingle and rock, with clear water that is popular for swimming, kayaking, paddleboarding and snorkelling when conditions are calm. The harbour is the heart of the village, with fishing boats, benches and lovely views across the bay. It is a great place for a gentle wander, especially in the evening.

Food and drink options are simple and relaxed. The Paris Hotel is a well-known village pub overlooking the sea, while local cafés and seasonal spots offer cream teas, light lunches, ice cream and takeaway treats. It is the kind of place where food is best enjoyed slowly, with a harbour view and no rush.

For walking, Coverack is excellent. Follow the South West Coast Path south towards Lowland Point for wide sea views and a peaceful, open stretch of coastline, or head north towards Porthallow for a more rugged walk with hidden coves and Lizard scenery. Coverack is best enjoyed at an easy pace: swim, stroll, eat by the harbour, then watch the light fade over the bay.
