Why Lostwithiel
Lostwithiel was built by the Normans some 800 years ago and at its heart lies Restormel Castle, which is a must see. Still in very good condition and surrounded by a deep moat, visitors are privy to fantastic views of the surrounding countryside.
Stepping out of your Cornish holiday home, you have lots of shops to explore. If you enjoy home decor, then make sure to stop by Anna Dianne Furnishings, owned by internationally renowned designer Anna Dianne, where you will find plenty of inspiration. You will also find lots of antique shops, coffee shops, craft shops, gift shops and more.
Or, if walking is your fancy then there are many beaches to discover along the South-West Coastpath. At low tide and not far at all to travel from your Cornish cottage, lies the shingle beach belonging to the town itself. A perfect place to have a picnic and admire the medieval bridge, while the children build sandcastles and paddle in the sea. Other beaches you will want to visit are Readymoney Beach, a small beach at Fowey with spectacular views across Fowey Harbour, Polridmouth Beach and Polkerris Beach, which are just a short drive away.
There are plenty of places in which to sample some delicious Cornish food too. The Trewithen Restaurant specialises in local fresh fish and has a new dish each day, using the morning’s catch. If you enjoy a pub meal though, The Crown is one of the town’s oldest pubs which offers up a varied menu at reasonable prices.
There are so many lovely places to explore from your holiday home in Lostwithiel including Charlestown with its’ historical harbour, Bodmin Moor, The Eden Project at St Blazey, the stunning fishing harbour village of Polperro, Fowey (easily accessible via the King Harry ferry) and St Neot.
Your stay in your Lostwithiel holiday home will be one you won’t forget in a hurry.
