Here is the place for surfing and coasteering. Newquay is the epicentre of Cornish surfing, but nearby Watergate Bay is gentler, and up-coast Bude is a family-friendly surf-resort, with four beautiful beaches. Just along the coast from Bude is awesomely rugged Crackington Haven.

You will know about Doc Martin’s Port Isaac, and King Arthur’s Tintagel, both well worth a visit, but there is also bewitching Boscastle to explore, or try cycling on the Camel Trail. Head inland to unspoilt Bodmin Moor for hill-walking on Rough Tor, or head for history at beautiful houses like Lanhydrock. If food is your passion, perhaps try a Rick Stein Cookery School experience in Padstow. Or simply do it all.
