Activities

Rock offers a brilliant blend of natural beauty, outdoor activities and stylish dining, making it a stand-out destination for families and friends alike.

Set beside the serene Camel Estuary, Rock is a playground for watersports enthusiasts. Calm waters make it ideal for stand-up paddleboarding, sailing, waterskiing, and wakeboarding, with local operators like Camel Ski School and Rock Watersports offering expert tuition and equipment hire. The sheltered bay is also a lovely spot for wild swimming and beachcombing, while Rock Beach, with its golden sands and dog-friendly access, is perfect for families.

For those who enjoy walking or cycling, the nearby Camel Trail runs along the old railway line from Wadebridge to Padstow, offering scenic estuary views. Alternatively, stroll the coastal path to Daymer Bay and Polzeath for more sea views and charming beach stops. Rock is also home to the revered St Enodoc Golf Club, a world-class links course nestled between dunes, with views of the sea and estuary.

Food lovers are spoilt for choice. The Mariners, by Paul Ainsworth, overlooks the water and delivers elevated pub classics with an emphasis on local produce. For fine dining, The Dining Room offers a refined intimate menu. Fee’s Food is a beloved deli offering fresh local ingredients and ready-made meals (and they deliver to holiday cottages), while Four Boys is a stylish café by the ferry slipway, ideal for lunch with a view. For something more exotic, head to The Tiny Thai in nearby Wadebridge.

A short ferry ride across the estuary brings you to Padstow, famed for its harbour charm and restaurants, expanding your options even further. Whether you’re exploring by kayak, relaxing in a beachside café or teeing off on a clifftop green, Rock offers an unforgettable Cornish escape.

Balangan is an excellent place to stay, with everything you need to relax and enjoy the beauty of the local area.

The decor is stylish, the kitchen well stocked with all you need, and the layout works well for families. Upstairs, the bedrooms are spacious and cosy, and the bathrooms add a luxurious feel. The hot tub, gardens and sauna are all well maintained and a great addition to the house. We did a lot of exploring on our trip, and coming back to the house each day was certainly something to look forward to.
