In the heart of the picturesque village of Boscastle, on a bustling little residential lane is Jordan House, a stylish semi-detached family home, filled with character and set on three levels. This historic property has a small enclosed courtyard garden to the front which has views over the valley beyond. Entering on the ground floor, the smart fitted Shaker-style kitchen/dining room with slate floor, has a large pine table and chairs. The cosy living room has big sofas, an open fire and colourful prints of Cornish scenes adorn the walls. From the hall, steep stairs lead to two pretty bedrooms – a double with TV, and a twin, both with views over the courtyard garden and the hills beyond. They share the elegant family bathroom which has a roll top bath and eye catching checkerboard floor. On the lower ground floor is a shower-room and useful utility room. From Jordan House, the historic harbour with its famed Museum of Witchcraft, interesting local potteries and art galleries is in walking distance. Here you'll find quaint old buildings now converted to restaurants and coffee shops. Much of the surrounding landscape and coastline is National Trust owned, scenery so impressive it is said to have been an inspiration to novelist Thomas Hardy who met his sweetheart Emma here whilst working as an architect on the church tower.
A Cornish village, Boscastle has shops, restaurants and pubs serving food. Cliff tops, rocky coves, surf, open fields and wildlife fill the area. The coastal footpath passes through scenery whilst the beaches of Bossiney, Trebarwith Strand and Crackington Haven are within 5 miles. The surfing beaches at Bude and Polzeath are also accessible. Nearby is Tintagel, boasting stately homes and gardens, or the open space of Bodmin Moor, famous for its granite tors and Daphne Du Maurier’s Jamaica Inn.

Jordan House advert is inaccurate.
It does not warn that it is not suitable for disabled people also does not mention the hill to get up from the village. If it stated not suitable for the disabled i would not have chosen this cottage. Also says parking can be a problem, there is no parking near the cottage and you have to pay £5.70 per day in the village carpark. The cleanliness was lacking in places, needs a bit of maintenance as door handles loose and doors do not shut properly or lock.

Parking is tight but we were lucky and found space everyday.

The Cottage was lovely, nice light bright rooms, everything needed was there.
Lovely apple tree, shame to see all the apples on the ground so we helped our selves to a few. Parking a bit of an issue, but not too bad - we got a weekly ticket for the council car park. Instructions for re-cycling could do with updating as there no longer appears to be any recycling bins at the council car park.

Fantastic holiday cottage.
Clean and very comfortable. Parking was a bit of an issue but the rate in the car park was very reasonable. Would suggest a little more description about the possible parking issues and the steep hill might be good, as then people would be prepared.

We had a wonderful week at Jordan house.
The fully equipped kitchen meant we could prepare meals every evening and the house is exactly as described and as in photos. A second bathroom was a major bonus meaning I could run a bath and have a soak with no one disturbing me! I found the bath very quick to fill. We would all love to stay at Jordan House again. Had parking in the street been an issue I would have paid for parking in the carpark. Cornwall struggles to allow parking for all and that's all there is to it. Rather than annoy a resident and park in front of their house I pay every time and don't expect free parking as a right.

When searching for a property I did state I wanted parking.
We did not realise until the final details were sent the parking was on the quiet road next to the property. This meant when returning from a a day out we had to search for a parking space. The size of the living room and double bedroom was smaller than expected and a bit compact but still serviceable. The size of the shower room was small and luckily none of us were very tall otherwise I think it would have been difficult to use. The property itself was lovely and did not spoil our holiday.

It was lovely and so kind of the manager of the property to provide cream tea for our arrival.
The shower though was manageable unfortunately did not have a drainage system which flowed and as such it took some time for the water to go down the plug hole and as such was not very nice when having a shower. The location and cottage were nice, however we were concerned regarding the cleanliness of the property especially with regards to the additional measures which should be in place due to COVID. There were wrappers left from a previous customer under the sofa and the carpets and sofa itself didnât appear too clean. My understanding the additional measures required of COVID was deep clean was required after each stay which didnât appear to have taken place as we felt we needed to clean parts ourselves before usage which shouldnât be the case? Also my understanding is that cushions shouldnât be in the property to prevent infection, which there were on all the beds and sofa which was a concern for us as there was no sanitiser in the property.

Excellent cottage - beautifully furnished, functional and very pretty - in a beautiful location.
Woukd recommend highly. One teeny minor point - it would be good if the cleaners picked up the windfallen apples in the garden when they go in because they were rotting and attracting wasps.

Our stay at Jordan House was just perfect!
I have no idea how anyone can post a review thatâs less than complimentary as the cottage contained everything we could have wished for and more! Every need and want was considered, from the modern and light decor to the dishwasher, barbecue and even a cream tea provided for our arrival. The cottage was spotlessly clean and spacious, providing us with such a comfortable âhome from homeâ feeling. The location is idyllic and so close to the shops, pubs and restaurants of the village and harbour. We managed to park easily right near the cottage, although the street is narrow, as other reviewers have suggested, and which is to be expected in such a picturesque village. It was also an excellent base from which to explore other parts of the Atlantic Coast and North Cornwall... We ventured to Bude, Padstow, Tintagel, and Port Isaac along the coast, and inland to Jamaica Inn, Lanhydrock and the Eden Project - all within easy reach by car. Thank you so much for such a perfect stay - I canât recommend Jordan House enough and Iâm missing it already!

Lovely cottage but a few issues relating to maintenance would enhance stay.
Clearly owners do not stay on a regular basis. Kitchen - broken on arrival: dustpan and brush, washing up bowl split in side, oven & hob very slow to heat and dials worn so new users find difficult to operate. Pictures in frames displayed Seafood restaurant in 2006 now since closed! Cupboards smell musty and as other comments a deep clean throughout house is needed. Shower Room - door rubs on floor and shower needs âgunkâ removing to drain effectively. Utility Room - broken on arrival - clothes airer and vacuum previously tried to be fixed but does not suck. Windows throughout could do with stays to sash windows to prevent banging shut. I hope comments help with general maintenance and allow others to enjoy their stay

One of the best Sykes cottages we have stayed in.
Exceeded all our expectations. The parking wasnât an issue we were able to park very close to our accommodation each time with ease. Would like to return again.

You really need to see this property yourselves before advertising it.
It is extremely run down and neglected. We had to buy cleaning equipment to clean the cupboards in the kitchen before putting any food in them. We had a few issues such as no clothes airer (although we had expected an outside washing line) the TV upstairs did not work and the batteries in the remote had rotted away, the lights in the utility room in the basement did not work at all so we could not see how to use the washing machine. Sarah, the caretaker did respond quickly when we contacted her but when we left the lights still were not working. There were dirty marks on the walls, the radiators were all dirty and dusty, there was dust everywhere and it was very difficult to try to relax in this environment. On the day we left I stripped the double bed, which is what we normally do when we leave a property, and was sickened by the state of the mattress cover. I wish I had seen it on the day we arrived because I would not have slept on it. My husband slept in the twin room and I didn't strip that bed so don't know what state the cover was in. I will be forwarding photos separately. We do have 3 cottage holidays every year, often in Devon/Cornwall and have stayed in old, traditional houses many times but there is no excuse for this level of dirt and neglect.

Although parking is available on the street near Jordan House this is very limited and the road is very narrow.
Some of the neighbours are also a little possessive about what they perceive to be âtheirâ space. We discovered that Boscastle car park was free overnight (between 5pm and 10am) and decided to leave our car there each evening. Please be aware that it is a steep walk uphill to the cottage from the car park so this would not suit everyone. Apart from that one issue we loved the cottage and the area.

The house manager was very helpful and we arrived to a lovely cream tea and a beautifull bunch of cornish flowers Would definitely book again for a stay in Boscastle

We had no hot water .
. no bath which was a feature (roll top) No saucepans ( xmas dinner was cooked with borrowed pans ) No heating for last 3 days.. ( we have now got flu) Shared access at the front of property was not told about this ( we have a dog so did next door) When we booked property you send emails to wrong address therefore we couldnât cancel insurance .. ( we had our own) Paying for gas that we didnât use is a complete joke Therefore we request some kind of compensation for our ruined Christmas ... and will not be using Sykes again

No towels, -- -- had to buy some, but would like to stay here again.
The separate big kitchen with it's own door and big table, allowed one person to use the TV room / lounge, and the other to use the kitchen or the bedroom with it's own TV and interesting village "back-ends" view. - This, and the two separate WCs, made it ideal for two (to three) people who "enjoy their own space" !

Cottage was lovely, much bigger than expected.
Drain/blockage issues which were reported by previous occupant where fixed straight away. Parking by the cottage was on a tight road, however we had no issues and always managed to find space near the cottage. The housekeeper Sarah was lovely, even sent us an item back to use which we had left by mistake.

The cottage is a lovely and in a good location to walk down to Boscastle centre.
Sarah the house manager was brilliant, we had recently got married and she went out of her way to get us a bottle of prosecco and chocolates as a welcome gift.

The cottage is lovely, had everything we could need and was lovely and tidy plenty of kitchen space and great that we could control the heating. The area is great with plenty to do and with shops cafes and pubs near by! Thank you for a lovely stay.

The only thing that you should perhaps mention is the gradient of hill from Boscastle harbour to the property, although it wasn't an issue for myself and wife anyone with health issues may find it a bit of a climb.
Apart from that we had a lovely holiday very calm and relaxing thank you.

Being half way up the hill, it was a good location for all the local pubs.
Cottage well decorated and ideal for four people although second bedroom a little compact for two adults.
