About

The iconic harbour town of Padstow boasts a selection of charming properties and Kendra is a fine example. Set back from the bustling harbour, yet less than a five-minute stroll from the action, Kendra offers a restful stay for up to six guests.

Enchanting in style, Kendra is set over three floors. Guests will appreciate the Cornish country charm as soon as they enter the lounge. Complete with cosy woodburning stove, a sumptuous L-shaped sofa and rustic wooden flooring, the space is filled with light thanks to the dual aspect sash windows. There’s also a fully-loaded SmartTV to enjoy your favourite shows, plus Bluetooth sound system to set the scene. There’s also an elegant eating area on this middle floor. The large wooden dining table comfortably seat up to six guests, making this a great space for family entertaining and Cornish celebrations.

Up the spiral staircase and you’ll be greeted by two of the three well-appointed bedrooms. The master bedroom features its own ensuite shower room, a lavish king-sized bed, plenty of built-in storage, and comes complete with dual aspect windows, flooding this room with natural light. Bedroom two is a generously sized twin room, equally bright and airy there’s built-in storage and easy access to the family bathroom, which is also on this floor.

On the ground floor, the traditionally inspired country kitchen, with its beamed ceilings, chunky wooden worktops and granite tiled flooring is full of charm. Well-equipped for your holiday, there’s an induction hob and electric oven, integrated dishwasher and washing machine, fridge and separate freezer with an additional wine fridge. Coffee lovers will appreciate the Sage bean-to-cup coffee machine, to kickstart your day. Guests can also choose to dine down here with the second dining table and six plush chairs.

From the kitchen you can access the cosy courtyard which comes complete with chairs and a coffee table, the perfect spot for a coffee under the Cornish sun, or an evening tipple. Across the courtyard you’ll reach the third bedroom, which is in its own annex. A fabulous space for those wanting a separate dwelling away from the main house, there’s a double bed, built-in storage, plus its own ensuite shower room.

Kendra is truly a special property for your Cornish getaway. Guests should bear in mind that the location is up a slight hill, and due to the age of this property there are two spiral staircases. Dogs are welcome, however house rules requests that they must stay on the ground floor. It’s also worth noting that there’s no private parking, although on-road parking is available outside the property and you’re just a meander away from the delights of Padstow’s celebrated harbourfront.

Activities

Padstow sits on the Camel Estuary, opposite its neighbouring village, Rock.  Both are connected by a short ferry ride and each has its own unique identity.

A holiday in Padstow will be filled with fun and food (check out our favourites, here). Every foodie in the UK knows Padstow is the place to come to experience the best fresh locally sourced ingredients and in particular, seafood! Celebrity chef, Rick Stein, has a number of businesses here including a cafe, a delicatessen, a bakery, a restaurant and his famous fish and chips.  Rick isn’t the only move and shaker in town though and Padstow has many strings to its bow, including No.6 by Paul Ainsworth and Prawn on the Lawn. There is a good mix of foods here too and a pasty from Malcolm Barnecutt’s bakery is just as well advised, followed by a famous Roskilly’s ice cream.

Whilst the food at Padstow is definitely a highlight, it is not all that Padstow and Rock have to offer.  Why not catch a Sealife Safari to see local seals, dolphins and if you are lucky, a basking shark. It’s a great way to experience the coast.

Padstow itself is more known for its harbour than beaches. However, being on the wild north coast, beautiful  sandy spots are not very far away at all. Daymer Bay, Harlyn Bay and Constantine Bay are all in easy reach, plus lesser known Mother Ivey’s Bay and Booby’s Bay are certainly worth a visit. And around five miles of south of PadstowPorthcothan Bay is a large sandy beach which is popular with families and surfers alike.

For those who enjoy jumping in feet first, there is always plenty of fun to be had with Ocean High, who offer lessons in stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking and kite-surfing in Rock.  Brea Beach at Rock has soft golden expanses of sand that are a perfect place to relax with the family and take a dip in the water. If you want to take it inland then why not cycle the Camel Trail which provides an easy route to cycle to Bodmin.

If you enjoy a heated pool to relax in, Rock’s luxury spa Cowshed might be more up your street.  Cowshed is part of the St Moritz Spa and Hotel, where you can indulge in some serious pampering and relaxation. Perfect for getting ready before a night out at local restaurant, The Mariners, where you can take in the view of the twinkling Padstow lights across the water.

No holiday is complete without a spot of shopping and Padstow has plenty of galleries, clothes shops, gift shops and more.  A particularly nice shop to visit is Whistlefish, which stocks pretty illustrations of Padstow and the surrounding area.

If you would like to explore further afield, then Padstow is positioned close enough to the A39 to make day trips to Bude, St Ives and the south coast easy to reach. There is so much to explore in this area, that you will never be bored!
